State Rehabilitation Board was established under the Edict Notice 13 of 1999 of Benue State Government by His Excellency, Dr. George Akume, and former Governor of Benue State on the 18th day of June 2001. It is located at Km 13 Apir Makurdi Aliade Road Makurdi Benue State. This came to actualize the dream of United Nations Declaration Act 1992, subsection 4 into practice, which calls for International Communities and the Federal Government elect for setting up Boards and Department for Rehabilitation of the special people amongst member countries.
Structure of the Board
The structure of the Board comprises the management cadre headed by the Executive Secretary, Directors/Heads of Departments, professional Staff in various Departments of specialization and other supporting staff like guides, interpreters, psychiatrist, security men, drivers, and cleaners among others that assist in the running of the Board.
To manage, train and empower towards transforming live through compassionate care to overcome physical, emotional and psycho-social challenges, promoting optimal recovery and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and mental disorder, drug addiction, injuries and limitations, helping them to achieve independence and reintegrate into the mainstream of society with dignity through partnership with relevant stakeholders using institutional and community base development approach.
